【英語なぞなぞ】子供も大人も楽しめる問題＆解説 -PART 32-
こどもたちが大好きな「なぞなぞ」は、英語ではriddle（s）といいます。
英語のなぞなぞで有名なものやおもしろいものをいくつか、解説付きでご紹介します。
1. I Have Cities, but…
I have cities, but no houses. I have mountains, but no trees. I have water, but no fish. What am I?
街はあるけど家はない。山はあっても木はない。水はあるけど魚はいない。なんのこと？

2. A Dog Crossed the River
A man calls his dog from the opposite side of the river. The dog crosses the river without getting wet, and without using a bridge or boat. How?
男は川の反対側から犬を呼んだ。犬は川を渡ってきたが、濡れていなかった。そこには橋やボートもなかった。どうして？
【答え】
The river was frozen.（川は凍っていた）
3. An Electric Train
If an electric train is moving north at 55 mph and the winds blowing east at 70 mph, which way does the smoke blow?
電車が時速55マイルで北へ向かい、東へ風速70マイルで風が吹いている。煙はどの方向へ行く？
【答え】
An electric train doesn’t emit smoke.（電車は煙を出さない）
4. No One Wants
What is it that no one wants but no one wants to lose?
誰も欲しがらないが、だれも負けたくないものって何？
【答え】
Lawsuit.（訴訟）
